What happens after the 15 days of Chinese New Year (CNY) feasting?
In my opinion the best part is the Yu sheng éšç”Ÿ, The fun of mixing and tossing up of all ingredients for good luck. The Cantonese say 撈起 lo hei (tossing up good fortune)

I hope you shared and enjoyed the food.
Some may gain weight, some may feel guilty and some just do not care at all!
Singapore is a food paradise and we do not need festivals to feast.
In my opinion most of us do not have an exit strategy.
We love to eat but do not know how to stop.
Dietitians and nutritionists send out greeting cards with the calorie content of our favourite foods and it never works because it is negative messaging.
Let me give you some tips to chase away post CNY blues. Singapore style
Focus on a strategy that reinforces positive messaging.
There is more motivation if the outcome is positive and there is no compromise on taste buds.
Set aside one (m)eatless day - Play on words. No meat and eat less
One sacrifice 2 positive outcomes
No meat (kinder to heart at least for a day)
More vegetables (more antioxidants to slow down cell damage)

Picture on the left is a Chinese meatless. There is beehoon with tofu and generous servings of celery, hairy gourd wood ear mushroom or fungus. The reduced sugar tau huay dessert provides extra protein. Taste buds will accept as they are familiar foods.
Picture on the right is an Indian meatless. Mixture of white and briyani rice (This rice serving can be shared by 2 ladies. Just add a portion more of vegetables).
This generous serving of vegetables includes broccoli, carrots, cabbage, bitter gourd, onions, sweet corn and French beans. The fried tofu cubes provide the protein. For the guys you could add an egg in the meal
There is no compromise on taste. An acceptable meatless meal

This is the Malay meatless with omelette, tempeh and mixed vegetables
This meal will go down well
The bonus? Each meal costs no more than $4!
You do not need to go on a diet and feel food deprived! (Negative messaging!)
One wise choice with 2 positive outcomes and a bonus. Easy right?
Louisaz says positive messaging has the most impactful benefits!
