Faith was the only thing I had as I boarded the aircraft as there were so many unknowns
The unseen alien could be anywhere š±
With advisory from the Ministry of ForeignĀ Affairs I decided to come home. The UK National Health Service (NHS) was overwhelmed as new infections spiked.Ā
Negative emotionsĀ
It was a dilemma as my sister had just recovered and I would have liked to stay for longer.
Uncertainty - The status of departure and arrival of different countries keeps changingĀ
PositiveĀ
The Singapore High Commission was helpful and offered to arrange flights on Singapore Airlines (SQ) for me.Ā
Flight home on British Airways BA 15
Heathrow Airport was eerily quietĀ .
We had room for social distancing. The flight was not full
Cabin crew was cheerful throughout the 13 plus hours journey š
Prepackaged food was served to reduce food handling.
Good anticipation by BA as I would not have been able to eat a 3 course meal
I did a good deed on flight. I gave my spare mask to a Singapore student. He could not get one at all in UK š·
We landed on time and only Singapore citizens and permanent residents were allowed to disembark. There were 12 of us
Clockwork efficiency at Immigration & Checkpoint Authority (ICA) and SATS (airport security)Ā
E forms completed.
Although everyone was focused on Covid - 19 there was no letting down of our guard against terrorism.
The home team was there with their AK47s.
We arrived at our hotel 30 minutes later.
The hotel staff at Studio M at Clarke Quay was exemplary.Ā šš»
If there was an undercurrent of fear none of staff showed it.
I was impressed by their professionalism.
I proceeded to my room after checking in.
Later my luggage were left outside the door.Ā
I was dressed for a cold wintry day when I left London. āļø
What I needed was a shower. The shower had a spa head.
I directed the jet stream to relax my stiff shouldersĀ
Dinner was left outside the door on a red stool.Ā
I was served fish with mixed vegetables and potatoes and dessert of walnut cake.
There was no contact with anyone once I was in my room.
The room was very comfortable.
There was a loft which suited me fine as I could exercise up there.
After dinner I spent time catching up with relatives and friends
Louisaz says it feels good to be back.
