Step 3 : Salmon, mackerel and chicken meat can be given but must be boneless (Please note that some dogs are allergic to chicken).

Dogs and their 6th sense

The Chinese believe that if a dog comes to your home of his/her own accord it will bring plenty of good fortune

to the family.

One day in 1998 a maltese poodle mix came into my home and “adopted” me. At the time I had a ferocious dog in my garden . This dog will kill any animal that wondered in by accident – birds, kittens, chameleons. One time another dog came too close to gate and had part of his skin and fur ripped off!

I was so surprised that this poor abandoned dog did not get torn to shreds when he found his way into my garden through the front gate I believe that this dog was protected by an angel. I am not too sure about bringing good fortune but he sure brought plenty of happiness and laughter to my mother and I. He was so well behaved and such a “trouble free” dog.

On morning of my mum’s passing (she was in a coma) I found him rather agitated. He jumped up onto mum’s chest and tapped her with both front paws.Mum passed away a few hours later

I believe that dogs have a 6th sense and he must have known that the time has arrived. Maybe it was a desperate attempt to wake mum up. It must have been difficult for him to let go just like humans.

Taking care of dogs

Dogs suffer same diseases as humans so taking care of dog’s diet is important. Always keep the belly dry after a shower. A wet belly can cause gastric upset. A vet gave me this valuable tip. If a dog has diarrhoea do not give normal food. Instead feed a mashed boiled egg with a spoonful of plain unsweetened yoghurt twice a day.

For small breeds use small egg. Diarrhoea will clear up in a couple of days. If unsure bring dog to vet immediately.

Feed dog twice a day. Half bowl in morning and ¾ bowl in early evening. Snacks made from human grade food can be given as treats. All meat fed to dogs must never contain any bones. Chicken breast can be given occasionally. Dogs lead healthy long lives with such a diet and no smelly poo!

Add some water to food before feeding as most dogs need to have an adequate intake of water.
